The NBA announced Monday that the Dallas Mavericks will travel to Europe to play two games during training camp, one in Berlin and another in Barcelona.

They will play Alba Berlin, eight-time German Champions, on Oct. 6 at the 02 World Arena. The details for the second game in Spain have not been finalized yet.

Mavs star Dirk Nowitzki will finally get to take a trip back home for their first game.

According to ESPN, in February when news of the trip first became known, Nowitzki said:

"I think it’s been long overdue. A couple years ago there was a game in Kolnarena [in Cologne, Germany] where Phoenix played Philly and everyone was like, 'Where are the Mavs at?' So, it’s been disappointing to see all these teams go over there and play and we were never a part of it. I think it’s going to be great."

The Boston Celtics will also take a trip to Europe for a portion of their training camp. They will play games in Turkey and Italy.

Both teams are expected to open training camp in late September.
